About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define the control and data contract between the facility energy controller and third-party power plant controllers
  • Define objects, fields, units, update rates, and staleness behavior crossing system boundaries
  • Define sequences of operation for normal operation, generation shortfall, source transitions, blackstart, emergency shedding, and degradation behavior
  • Specify point maps, interlocks, and constraint classes for vendors
  • Enforce requirements through factory and site acceptance
  • Translate electrical and generation constraints into software requirements
  • Translate software and data constraints into terms accepted by plant vendors and engineers of record
  • Prove interfaces in simulation before energization
  • Test every constraint class and mode transition and carry the work into automated commissioning
  • Build controls for real-time load control, MEP and behind-the-meter integration, automated commissioning, and autonomous deployment of AI data centers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience with machine-to-machine and system-to-system protocols, including MQTT, OPC UA, and REST APIs
  • Ability to select appropriate protocols for specific use cases
  • Ability to read and write code well enough to prototype integrations, test point maps against live devices, and review software; Python or Go preferred
  • Ability to read one-line diagrams and panel schedules and understand protection, breakers, sources, and fault behavior
  • Experience designing data contracts between systems, including objects, fields, units, update rates, and stale-value behavior
  • Experience writing control narratives for systems with multiple controllers and defining disagreement behavior
  • Fluency in both controls and software domains
  • Experience translating electrical control requirements into software-buildable requirements and evaluating software designs for field viability
  • Experience challenging vendor scope or company assumptions with quantitative analysis
  • U.S. work authorization requirement
  • Willingness to travel and relocate, as requested in the application

Benefits

Comp & perks
  • Equity for all full-time roles
  • Meaningful equity / restricted stock units may be included in total compensation
