About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the end-to-end physical implementation of data center networks for hyperscale sites
- Architect fiber plants, plan transceivers, and integrate structured cabling
- Collaborate with CSA, MEP, and construction teams on power, cooling, space, pathways, cabinets, and racks
- Develop, read, and interpret construction drawings in Bluebeam, ACC, and Procore
- Translate DCN logical port maps for TOR, spine, super-spine, and DCI into physical cross-connect and patching schedules
- Automate port-to-fiber mapping for 100K+ ports per site
- Define cassette types, trunk counts, and structured cabling hierarchy
- Model fiber utilization and overbuild across two to three hardware generations
- Select optics based on reach and loss budget
- Validate interoperability across vendors and generations
- Maintain loss-budget and margin models for every link type
- Own the ICT Basis of Design, SOPs, and Division 26/27/28/33 master specifications
- Integrate with DCIM tools to track strands, ports, and patching
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience designing hyperscale or cloud-provider data center networks with 1000+ racks and 100K+ fiber strands
- Expertise in structured cabling systems, including Corning, Panduit, CommScope, and MPO/MTP ecosystems
- Deep knowledge of optical standards including IEEE 802.3 and OIF
- Deep knowledge of 400G/800G DR4, FR4, LR4, and SR8 transceiver technologies
- Command of fiber loss budgets, dispersion, and testing methodologies including OTDR, insertion loss, and polarity verification
- Experience integrating designs into DCIM tools such as NetBox, Remedy, or custom hyperscaler equivalents
- RCDD certification, coherent DCI, and multi-generation optics roadmapping are bonuses
