About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and own the facility side of the energy control contract
  • Develop the protocol layer, gateway service, and API used by third-party plant controllers
  • Design and evolve the messaging and state layer
  • Compute facility load intent from live telemetry and publish it every second with a forecast
  • Own data contracts and engineering standards used by other teams
  • Build the constraint execution path that determines facility capability and timing within seconds
  • Build production observability for conformance, including per-stage latency, staleness, and watchdog health
  • Develop control systems for real-time load control, MEP and behind-the-meter integration, automated commissioning, and autonomous deployment
  • Collaborate with teams spanning hardware and software to deliver gigawatt-scale AI data-center infrastructure
  • Respond urgently to broken production pipelines and operational issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience with high-throughput messaging systems such as NATS, Kafka, or equivalent at real scale
  • Experience designing time-series data models in ClickHouse, TimescaleDB, or comparable systems
  • Experience with production observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent
  • Experience building and owning production services relied upon by other teams
  • Ability to design systems, explain selected patterns and rejected alternatives, and refactor systems when designs no longer fit
  • Ability to define interfaces, modules, and failure domains, with tests targeting anticipated failures
  • Experience across the full signal chain from device to database
  • Strong focus on data integrity, including distinguishing stale values from incorrect values
  • Go, NATS, and Redis experience (bonus)
  • Industrial and utility protocols such as DNP3, Modbus TCP, and OPC UA (bonus)
  • Kubernetes and ArgoCD for production service deployment (bonus)
  • Real-time control and dispatch systems such as SCADA, EMS, and power plant controllers (bonus)
  • Real-time dashboarding such as Grafana (bonus)
  • Willingness to work in person and select an office location
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Must answer required application questions regarding travel, relocation, work authorization, visa assistance, restrictions, availability, and office location
