About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, implement, test, and deploy well-scoped software features
  • Implement automated calibration software for hardware and machine workflows
  • Build image processing software for target tracking, calibration, and engagement
  • Implement reliable data handling and storage for machine and image data
  • Add logging and basic monitoring
  • Help implement supervisory control systems and human-machine interfaces (HMI)

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience building and testing production software in a team environment
  • Ability to independently own moderately complex, well-scoped features from design through deployment
  • Ability to write clean, readable, documented code
  • Experience using source control and code review practices
  • Understanding of automated testing, debugging, logging, and common software failure modes
  • Ability to translate machine or engineering needs into practical software with technical partners
  • Willingness to use approved AI-assisted development tools responsibly and review generated work to the same quality standard
  • Experience with computer vision or image processing is nice to have
  • Experience with automated calibration, robotics, motion systems, or precision hardware is nice to have
  • Experience with data pipelines, machine data formats, databases, or high-volume data storage is nice to have
  • Experience with supervisory control systems, HMI development, or controls-adjacent software is nice to have
  • Experience with hardware, experimental systems, scientific equipment, or real-time systems is nice to have
  • Eligibility to work in the United States or Germany, or willingness to obtain sponsorship
