About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development of feature engineering deliverables, including Concept, Logical and Technology requirements, boundary diagrams, design analysis, Failure Mode Avoidance, robustness fields, and test procedures
- Collaborate with design and product teams to realize the desired ADAS feature experience
- Work with Hardware, Software, and Test teams to ensure feature requirements are cascaded, aligned, and accepted
- Develop and refine vehicle-level use cases, interfaces, and feature-level specifications for production feature delivery
- Establish feature objectives and system-level test methodologies aligned with customer objectives
- Develop feature functional safety requirements, item definitions, hazard analyses/risk assessments, and functional safety concepts in compliance with ISO 26262 and Ford’s Functional Safety process
- Ensure global regulatory compliance, including ECE/UNECE R79 and R2144
- Integrate new features with existing features to provide a strong customer experience
- Establish validation procedures, including CAE simulation and vehicle testing
- Ensure affected-system integration meets desired feature-level performance
- Support design validation methods for robustness across vehicle environmental conditions and customer usage profiles
- Analyze data from track, lab, and model-based validation to verify requirements
- Plan and execute real-world ADAS feature evaluation through vehicle, HIL, and virtual testing
- Identify system problems and issues
- Coordinate root-cause analysis with internal functions and external suppliers
- Support sign-off of feature-level performance for initial vehicle program implementation
- Gather quality history and drive feature quality improvements using data analytics, launch feedback, warranty data, and external metrics
- Lead robustness activities through FMA and advanced HIL/SIL/vehicle validation
- Lead complex root-cause investigations using 8D and 5-Why methods
- Present technical solutions to enterprise leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems, Computer Engineering or related degree
- 3+ years of experience developing in the ADAS domain using radars, cameras, LIDAR, ultrasonic sensors and/or other related vehicle systems
- 2+ years in system engineering, including System V, functional decomposition, design analysis, requirements development, system integration and FMA analysis
- 2+ years leading cross-functional communications and multidisciplinary teams across hardware, software, functional safety, and testing
- Strong leadership with a passion for quality and customer happiness
- Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal and project management skills
- Ability to work well independently and take initiative
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Master’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Computer Engineering or related degree preferred
- Experience with SysML/MagicDraw preferred
- Experience with model-based design, such as MATLAB and Simulink, preferred
- Experience with Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Failure Mode Avoidance preferred
- 5+ years of experience with system architecture, design, and documentation preferred
- 5+ years of experience with GPDS and program deliverables preferred
- 5+ years of experience with ADAS Perception, Sensing, or Driving Control systems preferred
- 2+ years of experience designing and developing traffic sign recognition, lane keeping systems, or related driving features preferred
