About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assign work schedules for Controls Engineers and Designers
- Maintain a current resource sheet with active and future project assignments for Controls activities
- Ensure quality work from Controls Engineers and Designers by setting standards and building common-practice tools
- Monitor project progress to ensure Controls activities remain on schedule
- Drive standardization for Final Assembly Tooling
- Ensure lessons learned from implementation are fed back to the core through the tooling supplier base
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to manufacturing engineers
- Generate electrical and pneumatic schematics and bills of materials
- Review programming and electrical specifications and requirements for compliance
- Support control-system issues and concerns raised by customers
- Support Controls Engineers and Designers in performing their jobs
- Provide Controls engineering support to customers, sales, and project managers
- Travel for machine installation as required
- Troubleshoot and commission automated equipment in a production environment
- Guide the application of final assembly tooling and ensure tier 1 suppliers adhere to GVOSS during design and build
- Collaborate with cross-functional maintenance and engineering teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S. Engineering—Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience or similar related technical field; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education
- 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering
- Ability to travel up to 50%–60% domestically and internationally, including Canada and Mexico
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport
- Preferred: 2+ years' experience in Manufacturing leadership capacity
- Preferred: Proven ability to manage multiple projects
- Preferred: Experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams
- Preferred: Proficiency with Virtual Manufacturing tools such as AutoCAD, Team Center, and Vis mockup
- Preferred: Ability to travel to the supplier base within the greater Detroit area
- Preferred: Ability to travel to Ford North American Assembly Plant facilities for equipment/tooling installation
- Preferred: Knowledge of vehicle development processes
- Preferred: Proficiency with GVOSS
- Preferred: Knowledge of automotive manufacturing and launch processes
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Verification of employment eligibility required at hire
