About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct sourcing activities to deliver quality parts at the best material cost within program timing requirements
- Understand upcoming program sourcing and launch milestones
- Align supplier bid lists with the Category Manager using industry trends, technologies, and supplier analysis
- Develop supplier strategies managing cost, quality, risk, and timing
- Present sourcing decisions and commercial settlements to executive leadership
- Provide suppliers with market cost-position feedback and build long-term relationships
- Support quality initiatives and supplier accountability
- Develop and execute negotiation strategies to deliver material efficiencies and minimize inflationary costs
- Develop material cost roadmaps supporting corporate objectives and long-term viability
- Collaborate with Category Managers, the Global Commodity Team, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Finance
- Develop year-over-year commodity cost positions and annual cost-savings goals
- Lead supplier Quarterly Business Reviews and Supplier Quality/Cost/Delivery meetings
- Support Critical Supply and Supplier Technical Assistance teams during quality or shortage issues
- Identify alternative technologies or supply sources with engineering
- Travel to supply partners as required
- Challenge existing processes and drive improvements
- Coordinate stakeholders to deliver required materials on time and with quality
- Attend internal and external process-improvement workshops
- Hold working-level supplier meetings for issue resolution and relationship development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering or another related field
- 3+ years of experience in procurement, preferably within the Automotive industry
- 3+ years of manufactured commodities and manufacturing processes experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic procurement software
- Experience with Stampings and Structural Assemblies
- Strong business and commercial acumen
- Excellent written and verbal abilities
- Ability to build relationships with teammates, suppliers, and cross-functional team members in virtual and face-to-face environments
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, deadlines, complex projects, and open issues
- Strong analytical skills, including sourcing evaluations and business case studies
- Strong negotiation skills
- Cost analytics, including commodity cost drivers, part cost breakdowns, and gap to optimal cost
- Strategic understanding of challenges facing the automotive industry
- Persuasive communication skills for proposals, reports, and plans
- Ability to interpret organizational needs and commercial strategies into global Category Strategies
- Strong working knowledge of Purchasing policies, procedures, and systems
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
