About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform comprehensive CAE analyses of automotive seats to minimize structural failure risk during vehicle impact events
  • Ensure seat structures meet FMVSS 207/210, FMVSS 225, ECE R14, ECE R17, Dynamic Structural Integrity requirements, and internal Ford requirements
  • Identify and resolve design deficiencies and propose optimal design solutions while minimizing cost and weight impacts
  • Coordinate with GES CAE engineers on meshing and analysis work aligned with program milestones
  • Evaluate Technical Variance Management actions and proposals for cost and weight reduction
  • Assess design proposals from Design & Release and cross-functional teams, providing CAE feedback
  • Evaluate structural optimization proposals from MDO and other attribute teams
  • Document and communicate CAE analysis results for design reviews, sign-off milestones, and program decisions
  • Meet Global Product Development System and intermediate program milestone deadlines
  • Perform rapid root-cause analysis and provide technical direction for structural build issues
  • Participate in co-creation sessions and collaborate with Design, Safety, Test, and other engineering teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a CAE Engineer, ideally applied to automotive structures
  • Prior experience in Seats, Seat Structures/Mechanisms, or Body Structures is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise performing advanced nonlinear structural analyses using the Finite Element Method (FEM)
  • Proficiency with LS-DYNA, ABAQUS, and NASTRAN
  • Hands-on experience with ANSA and Hypermesh
  • Working knowledge of Hyperview
  • Familiarity with modeFRONTIER, HEEDS, LS-OPT, and OptiStruct
  • Working knowledge of stamping processes and their impact on structural design and manufacturability
  • Experience with automation techniques and tools for CAE workflows
  • Solid project management skills for managing timelines, priorities, and deliverables across multiple concurrent programs
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles is a plus
