About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Understand sealing design to meet vehicle attributes including NVH and corrosion
  • Lead Purchasing and Finance in sealing supplier selection to achieve program targets
  • Develop sealing strategies and designs that meet customer requirements
  • Collaborate with Structures D&R engineers and Vehicle Operations manufacturing teams to develop joints and processes that enable efficient and robust sealing
  • Interface with engineers of surrounding components and systems, including closures, electrical, and trim
  • Lead full-service sealing supplier in development and delivery of sealing components
  • Kick off injection molded component tooling, manufacturing, layout, and testing
  • Release 3-D CAD that meets system design requirements
  • Lead prototype vehicle-level build support for static sealing
  • Support vehicle control plan testing for water and air leaks
  • Deliver Final Engineering Sign-off and production vehicle launch at Ford assembly plants

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 1 year of CAD experience
  • 2+ years of experience with body structures or body exterior with static sealing preferred
  • Master's degree in engineering preferred
  • Recent product development experience with Ford body commodities preferred
  • Working level knowledge of Ford’s Global Product Development System preferred
  • Knowledge of Ford software systems: AIMS, JIRA, WERS, FEDE, Team Center, Digital Buck, 3DX, and Integrator preferred
  • Experience reviewing and signing off on component drawings preferred
  • Experience leading brainstorming and creating decision matrices preferred
  • Experience applying 8D, fishbone, and other problem-solving methodology to root cause issues preferred
  • Experience applying DMAIC and DFSS principles preferred
  • Experience creating Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, and DFMEA preferred
  • Experience leading design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance preferred
  • Experience maintaining DVP&R and signing off on DV tests, including FMVSS requirements, preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, including visual
  • Strong collaborative, organizational, and visualization skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) preferred
  • Willingness to support vehicle launches in both the United States and Canada
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
