About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Update, develop, and maintain Ford Racing’s DiL simulator track library
  • Collect information from race-series sanctioning bodies and track and facilities management
  • Travel to racing circuits and testing facilities to collect first-hand information
  • Use commercial and proprietary CAE tools to implement findings in simulator track libraries
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of DiL simulator track manipulation tools
  • Add capability and efficiency to the track development process
  • Understand unique physical vehicle attributes and develop solutions to replicate them in simulation
  • Maintain a track-library database and organize and archive supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Aero, Powertrain, Chassis, Race Team Strategy, and other divisions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Mechanical, Computer or Electrical Engineering
  • 1+ years programming languages for data processing and tool automation, including MATLAB, Simulink, C++, Visual Basic, Python, or Java
  • Passion for Motorsports
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Master’s or PhD in Mechanical, Computer or Electrical Engineering with a focus on Vehicle Dynamics or Control Systems (preferred)
  • Experience with computer-based race gaming and developing custom tracks, vehicle models, and liveries (preferred)
  • 2+ years of Automotive Vehicle Dynamics, CAE, and/or DiL Simulator experience, with an emphasis on performance or racing vehicle design and modeling (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience using parametric and/or multi-body dynamics tools such as Dymola, CarSim, VI-CarRealTime, ADAMS, ADAMS Car, or AVL (preferred)
  • Participation in Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Robotics, or professional motorsports engineering experience modeling race-car vehicle dynamics (preferred)
  • Personal passion for track driving or off-roading, with an ability to subjectively evaluate vehicle handling limits (preferred)
