About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the company’s primary subject matter expert for electricity procurement, utility delivery systems, rate structures, power quality, and regulatory issues.
  • Work with utilities, suppliers, operations teams, finance, legal counsel, public service commissions, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop, procure, manage, and optimize electricity supply programs for manufacturing and commercial facilities across North America, including the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with support for South America as needed.
  • Lead utility relationships, supply strategy, regulatory engagement, contract negotiations, power quality initiatives, and cost-management programs.
  • Evaluate utility capabilities and lead improvements to supply reliability and power quality.
  • Lead utility outage restoration and investigations; complete 8D investigation reports.
  • Recommend company positions on state and federal energy legislation and testify before legislatures, agencies, and commissions when appropriate.
  • Direct participation in utility user consortiums and intervene in utility rate proceedings.
  • Negotiate electricity contracts, track commodity price trends, and develop strategies to minimize prices and manage volatility.
  • Initiate utility contracts, develop supply plans, and conduct engineering studies of alternative energy supply systems.
  • Develop electricity commodity procurement strategies; identify suppliers, issue RFPs, negotiate terms, award contracts, and serve as primary supplier contact.
  • Establish electrical cost and usage metrics, maintain the energy-management database, and report progress quarterly.
  • Project future electrical costs, anticipate utility-rate changes, and recommend cost-containment measures.
  • Advise Operations and other staff on utility costs, generation equipment, delivery systems, and power quality.
  • Investigate new programs for compliance with available energy resources and provide energy-supply expertise to supplier firms.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Experience working with regulated utilities, public service commissions, energy suppliers, and cross-functional corporate stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop electricity procurement strategies, manage commodity price risk, and evaluate alternative energy supply options.
  • Engineering knowledge of utility transmission and distribution systems, generation and co-generation systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present technical, financial, and regulatory information to leadership audiences.
  • Utility contract negotiation and supplier management.
  • Power quality, reliability, and outage response leadership.
  • Regulatory strategy and legislative advocacy.
  • Financial analysis, cost forecasting, and rate-structure evaluation.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with operations, finance, legal, and engineering teams.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
