About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze large amounts of data using data modeling tools to identify freight payment trends for tracking, forecasting, and reporting freight expense
  • Work with NAML to understand logistics network operations, carrier contract economics, and payment authorization systems
  • Participate in continuous improvement roadmap discussions with NAML to identify and implement network savings
  • Support annual efficiency and premium freight objectives
  • Assist with development of Budget and Business Plan financials
  • Provide analysis supporting year-over-year efficiency and premium freight targets
  • Prepare material freight accruals, identify cost drivers, and allocate costs to vehicle lines by market in IMPRS
  • Prepare materials and lead liability reviews with the Global Controller, PWC, and NA Accounting
  • Lead freight cost submissions for Forward Model cycle plan studies including PD SoMP reviews
  • Prepare and ensure correct segment reporting
  • Complete special projects and assignments throughout the year
  • Maintain Python/Alteryx workflows and other analytical tools

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop strong, positive working relationships with the MP&L operating team and other organizations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with and organize large amounts of data
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments
  • Ability to reassess and adapt schedule to changing priorities
  • Process improvement mindset; ability to implement new methods and ideas
  • Proficiency with MS Excel
  • Opportunity and ability to learn new data modeling software such as QlikView, Power Apps, Tableau, or Opencode
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
