About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data ingestion and curation pipelines from diverse sources
  • Standardize, improve the quality of, and optimize data for analytical use
  • Build robust data pipelines using Python, SQL, and DBT/Dataform
  • Contribute to seamless end-to-end development and reliable data flow from source to insight
  • Build and manage GCP data platforms using BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions
  • Implement data governance policies, access controls, and cloud security best practices
  • Manage data workflows and cloud infrastructure using Astronomer and Terraform
  • Monitor and improve pipeline and storage performance, scalability, efficiency, resource utilization, and cost-effectiveness
  • Collaborate with data architects, application architects, service owners, and cross-functional teams on best practices, design patterns, and frameworks
  • Automate data platform processes to improve reliability, data quality, and operational efficiency
  • Communicate complex technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Translate business requirements into optimized data asset designs and efficient code
  • Document data engineering processes and promote knowledge sharing
  • Continuously evaluate industry trends and emerging technologies to improve the data platform

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 5-7 years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience building and deploying cloud-based data platforms (GCP preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Java, and Python
  • Practical experience designing and deploying cloud-based data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, and DataProc
  • Solid understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, NoSQL databases, and columnar databases such as BigQuery
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data encryption, and data masking techniques in cloud environments
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Tekton, and other automation frameworks
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing cost and compute resources in BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Run, and DataProc
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
