About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain REST APIs and microservices in Java and Spring Boot, backed by SQL databases and BigQuery
  • Build frontend features and reusable components in React or Angular with TypeScript for exploring vehicle data
  • Write Kafka and Pub/Sub producers and consumers
  • Handle retries, failed messages, and message ordering
  • Package applications with Docker and deploy them to OpenShift and Google Cloud Platform, including configuration, secrets, and health checks
  • Write unit and integration tests with JUnit and frontend tools such as Jest or Cypress
  • Participate in code reviews, pairing, and test-driven development
  • Add logging, alerts, and dashboards in Cloud Logging and Cloud Monitoring
  • Troubleshoot production issues using runbooks
  • Use Git and CI/CD with GitHub Actions or Tekton
  • Maintain dependencies and address code quality and security scan findings
  • Follow secure coding, API security, and data privacy practices
  • Use GitHub Copilot for code, tests, and documentation
  • Build APIs and UIs for assistants that answer questions about vehicle data
  • Call LLM APIs to draft metadata, summaries, or release notes
  • Test AI output for accuracy and safety
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, the technical lead, product owners, data engineers, and platform teams to plan and deliver work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 1 to 4 years of professional software engineering experience; strong internships or co-ops count
  • Hands-on experience building backend services or REST APIs in Java with Spring Boot
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Day-to-day use of Git
  • Experience writing automated tests, for example JUnit
  • Basic understanding of Docker and deploying applications to a cloud or container platform
  • Testing before shipping
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Preferred experience with GCP, including Cloud Run, GKE, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, or Cloud Storage
  • Preferred experience with Kafka or Pub/Sub, retries, dead-letter queues, and message ordering
  • Preferred experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes
  • Preferred CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, Tekton, or Jenkins
  • Preferred experience with code scanning tools such as SonarQube, Checkmarx, or FOSSA and Terraform
  • Preferred monitoring experience with Cloud Monitoring, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Splunk and SLOs
  • Preferred Agile practices including Scrum, XP, test-driven development, or pair programming
  • Preferred hands-on AI experience, including LLM APIs, RAG applications, or agents
  • Preferred Python experience for scripting or data work
  • Preferred experience with IoT, telemetry, or time-series data
