About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead corporate design and verification strategy for Variable Braking Systems globally
- Employ manufacturing best practices
- Lead new program development at critical engineering milestones
- Lead quality improvement efforts
- Manage global teams across North America, Europe, South America, Australia, and China
- Own hardware and software system integration from virtual phase through prototyping, design verification, and product launch
- Own variable cost and vendor tooling for in-flight braking commodities to deliver EBIT efficiencies
- Lead Total Value Management cost-save initiatives on current production programs
- Take total responsibility for lifetime quality at 0, 1, 3, and 36 months in service
- Formulate and deliver 1-, 3-, and 5-year department strategy initiatives
- Grow electronics and software capability within the organization
- Manage annual department spending budgets for headcount, materials, and services
- Shape system selections for new programs, focusing on electronic brake booster, ESC, and sensor technologies
- Maintain yearly commodity business plans with Supply Chain for quality, cost, and supplier resilience
- Deliver year-over-year reductions in high-time-in-service quality issues and achieve best-in-class Variable Braking Systems
- Translate performance goals into component requirements, lead trade-off studies, collaborate with suppliers and vehicle teams, manage system architecture, and drive efficiency, performance, quality, and cost improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science/Engineering
- 6+ years of experience with Design and Release processes of vehicle systems or components
- 10+ years of automotive experience
- Effective knowledge of automotive electronics and control systems, including ECU hardware, sensors, and actuators, and/or mechanical component manufacturing processes
- Self-directed, with excellent people and communication skills and a strong focus on quality
- Ability to lead a diverse team from many organizations to resolve issues
- Travel to supplier or Ford assembly plants and critical customers may be required
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and vehicle NVH
- Experience in electronic or software-intensive vehicle system design is an advantage
- Experience with brake system technologies such as Electronic Brake Booster, ESC, or Wheel Speed Sensors is an advantage
- Advanced problem-solving skills including 8D and 3x5 Why disciplines are an advantage
- Deep expertise in systems engineering principles, including P-diagrams, DFMEA, and functional safety is an advantage
- Proficiency in MBSE tools, embedded software/controls development tools, and data analysis platforms is an advantage
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
