About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support FCE’s partnership with the Operational Risk Team in enhancing the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of effective internal controls across operational and regulatory landscapes
  • Identify and evaluate control deficiencies through control testing and improvement opportunities
  • Support development of the annual Non-SOX controls testing plan
  • Execute internal control testing procedures to evaluate and enhance FCE’s control environment and internal control over financial reporting
  • Apply corporate sampling methodologies and document rationale
  • Maintain organized evidence trails for every control tested and update GRC/Archer
  • Identify opportunities to automate control testing
  • Collaborate with departments and functions through regular Control Testing status meetings
  • Explain progress and issues found and provide process recommendations
  • Support compliance with relevant UK banking regulations and ensure accuracy and completeness of internal controls over financial reporting

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Professional qualification such as ACT, ACMA, CFA, ACA, or ACCA, or working towards one
  • Understanding of UK banking regulations and relevant legislation, including PRA, FCA, and SMCR
  • Experience in Internal Control, Risk Management, or Internal Audit
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated application of internal control principles, standards, and best practices
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced technical and analytical skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check for unspent convictions
