About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Execute projects and establish systems-level design ownership
Design chassis commodities in CATIA V5 according to engineering requirements and Ford Design Standards
Meet Ford GPDS timelines and quality standards for CAD design deliverables
Perform digital pre-assembly and BOM management
Perform dynamic and static clearance checks
Ensure CAD/BOM alignment
Implement design actions based on CAE/CFD analysis and outdoor and indoor testing
Develop designs according to sheet-metal design specifications and manufacturing processes
Manage the CAD design lifecycle in the PLM tool Teamcenter
Participate in efficiency and innovation initiatives
Perform engineering design with minimal supervision
Collaborate with D&R Engineers and cross-functional teams on CAD deliverables
Ensure Gateway and milestone targets are achieved according to Ford standards and design rules

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Automobile) or related disciplines
Minimum 4 years of experience in the Automotive Industry
Minimum 4 years of design experience using CATIA V5 in automotive systems
Ideally 4+ years in Automotive Product Development
In-depth CAD tool skills (CATIA V5/V6)
Expertise in BIW, closure, underbody, or upperbody systems and subsystems
Work experience with PLM tools (Teamcenter/3DX)
Knowledge of engineering quality tools, including FMEAs and Six Sigma
Knowledge of applied systems engineering and Six Sigma methodologies
Knowledge of New Product Introduction processes, milestones, and engineering delivery success criteria
Knowledge of material cost, business equations, and basic finance
Excellent written and verbal communication
Working knowledge of Office tools
