About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze Release engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility
- Conduct manufacturing feasibility studies for the U81x ('31 Model Year) program
- Interface with plant teams to identify and use existing space for new program tooling and equipment
- Lead cycle line layout meetings and establish assembly sequence and part orientation
- Run simulations for tooling and design prove-out
- Apply outgoing product-line quality lessons learned to the new vehicle line
- Write, update, and maintain program-specific assembly process sheets
- Perform DPA5 checks and raise part/process issues to the program
- Re-perform checks as D&R CAD matures through UNV2
- Support establishment of virtual build sequence and virtual build
- Complete P-Release activities
- Complete design phase Health Chart assessments
- Create and update PFMEAs to support Conformance Letter
- Support Special Characteristics Cascade and Agreement Form (SCCAF) development and sign-off
- Develop program cost analysis from Vignette through PA
- Define DC, pneumatic, fixtured, ergonomic, automation, pallet, conveyance, and error-proofing tooling needs
- Support cycle line layout development and workstation engineering
- Support simulation development with equipment availability, MTTR, and MTBF benchmark data
- Ensure master schedule adherence
- Work with the Facility team to identify needs
- Develop tooling design and build SOWs, process RFQs, and supplier PO kick-offs
- Lead pre-FDJ shop buy-offs
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, quality, program management, plant, facility, and supplier teams
- Lead development, design, and installation of production tooling for new F-150/U81x program launches
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 1+ years' experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment
- Knowledge of lean operating system; familiar with Kaizen principles
- Familiar with manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of RSLogix 5, 500, 5000; RSView and Factory Talk preferred
- Knowledge of Global Manufacturing Standard (GMS) and Vehicle Operation Structure Standard (VOSS)
- Knowledge of NFPA70E, NFPA79, ANSI, SAE HS-1738, and UL 508A industry standards
- Implementation of error-proofing
- Problem-solving skills using statistics; Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
- Ability to lead 8D
- MS Office application competency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Project management skills
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel for the duration of the program
- Ability to travel at times
- Some assembly tooling experience preferred
- Production assembly experience preferred
- Lean manufacturing knowledge a plus
- Supplier project management skills preferred
- CPARS/MEARS/Ariba experience preferred
- Vision systems preferred
- FIS/IIOT reports experience preferred
- Competency in MTTR/MTBF preferred
- Automotive manufacturing experience preferred
- Knowledge of IT systems (AVS, EP, FIS, Networks) preferred
- Systems Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical) skills preferred
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
