About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide engineering support for material flow processes and document standards and procedures
- Provide training and ensure adherence and maintenance so materials are available throughout the facility
- Work with Planning & Inventory Control, Production, Material Handlers, and Supply Chain on policies and continuous improvement
- Develop, design, and improve material flow processes and equipment
- Recommend changes to increase safety, reduce costs, improve quality, and optimize efficiency
- Participate in plant layout activities and develop floor space analyses
- Assist in qualifying manual and powered material handling equipment
- Improve material flow and manage materials and inventory consistent with Lean principles
- Lay out market, sequencing, and kitting areas
- Define in-plant storage and call systems, goals, and metrics for material control
- Analyze vehicle and pedestrian flow, congestion, and safety
- Collaborate with functional groups, vendors, Production, Production Control, Supply Chain, Quality, and engineering departments
- Prepare project plans, develop schedule milestones, and coordinate labor, facility, and equipment requirements
- Propose alternate plans for economic evaluation
- Administer technical procedures and implement an industrial engineering system
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2 or more years of materials experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred)
- Experience with successful automation implementations including AGV/AMR and warehouse automation (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience working with all levels of the organization (preferred)
- Experience working collaboratively on teams and driving (preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills (preferred)
- Experience working in a manufacturing plant environment (preferred)
- Tenure working in the automotive industry (preferred)
- Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook/Access) (preferred)
- Knowledge of AutoCAD (preferred)
- Validated functional expertise in material flow (preferred)
- Strong understanding of lean material flow strategies and lean manufacturing processes (preferred)
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Visa sponsorship is not available
