About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own EVSE design, release, packaging, and certification for future BEV and PHEV/eREV programs
- Lead EVSE design, release, and testing for next-generation electrified vehicles
- Lead packaging, enclosure, and appearance design with Studio and supplier partners
- Coordinate features and deliverables with the Applications team
- Release core components in FEDE BOM and WERS and manage drawing/model updates from P-release through launch
- Manage Component Design Specifications and Design Change Requests
- Participate in Design Reviews and Worst-Case Circuit Analysis
- Coordinate interfaces with EDS and Onboard Power Conversion teams
- Work with vehicle program and Applications teams to meet timing and product delivery
- Support catalog and service part releases with Ford Customer Service Division and Energy Services
- Manage quality foundation documents, including Quality History, DFMEA, PFMEA, SCCAF, RCL/RDM, and DVP&R
- Support supplier phased PPAP through visits and document review; review and approve PPAP elements
- Support vehicle launches, vehicle, offboard, regulatory, homologation, Trustmark, bench, and on-vehicle testing
- Support GPDS builds and AIMS resolution with suppliers
- Evaluate electrical system engineering alternatives for cost, weight, packaging, quality, benchmarking, geometry, and function
- Collaborate with multifunctional organizations to identify compatible solutions
- Work with Tier 1 suppliers, purchasing/STA, manufacturing, attribute teams, interfacing teams, and vehicle teams
- Investigate production warranty issues and assembly plant returns/failures with suppliers
- Drive containment, corrective actions, countermeasures, and prevention of recurrence
- Lead technical design review presentations for managers, chief engineers, and directors
- Lead benchmarking efforts and analyze EVSE architectures and features
- Author DVMs and perform testing to ensure component and vehicle operation meets requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related degree
- Previous design and release experience through all program phases in related field
- 2+ years working with CAD/CAE methods, CATIA preferred
- Experience with developing quality documentation (DVP&R, P-diagrams, DFMEAs etc.)
- Experience with problem solving tools (6-Sigma, 8D, 3L5W, or similar)
- Proactive, self-motivated, and attention to detail
- Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills, able to effectively interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to handle multiple assignments with competing priorities
- Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred/described as “Even better”
- Understanding of home electrical code requirements
- Knowledge of high voltage automotive systems and electric and/or hybrid electric vehicle systems
- Ability to coordinate CAD and CAE support
- Experience in Ford WERS/FEDE/AIMS/GPDS/Integrator systems
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
