About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design shipping containers to maximize CBM utilization in transportation
- Develop innovative packaging styles, materials, and technologies based on industry updates
- Benchmark packaging across North American, European, and IMG plants and incorporate best-in-world designs
- Use packaging design simulation tools to identify and standardize optimal packaging for each part
- Develop sustainable packaging solutions to achieve the lowest possible carbon footprint
- Liaise with suppliers, plant packaging teams, and purchasing functions to complete packaging sign-offs on time
- Prepare reports using standard formats during launch milestones
- Develop and execute assessment plans for supplier dunnage fleet calculators
- Verify inventory norms, shipping frequency, and transit times against Ford data
- Present packaging status and performance reports
- Set and achieve TVM targets through pack-density improvements, freight improvements, and packaging and part cost reductions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Engineering or other technical degree required; Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or Industrial Engineering are acceptable
- Degree in Packaging is an added advantage
- 3 to 5 years of experience in packaging development and implementation
- Working knowledge of Pack assist or similar packaging-related software
- Hands-on knowledge of Ansys, CATIA, CAD, and packaging material selection
- Good knowledge of various packaging methods across industries
- Proficiency in CMMS, MS Project, Access, Excel, Word, Power BI, Power Apps, and Python
- Prior experience in packaging development in FMCG, automotive, pharmaceutical, or e-commerce companies preferred
- Results-oriented and flexible, collaborative work style
- Ability to work with cross-functional, multinational teams in a fast-paced working environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Ability to work USA shift timings if required
- Proven packaging design skill sets
- Ability to travel to other countries on an ad-hoc basis
