About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop hypoid gears and differential assemblies for current and future axle applications
  • Lead hypoid gear Design and Release activities
  • Lead differential assembly Design and Release activities, including all components within the assembly
  • Support Sterling Axle Plant on current-model axle hypoids and differentials
  • Own ring gear to differential joints, including bolted or laser-welded joints
  • Own eLocker differentials and components
  • Create and maintain FMA documents
  • Create and complete DVPs
  • Conduct analytical and physical testing, failure analysis and root-cause investigations
  • Lead component or subsystem team meetings with systems, manufacturing, STA and other component engineers
  • Lead cross-functional Team of 4 meetings between Product Development and Purchasing to source components
  • Lead program milestone deliverables for new-program gateway sign-offs
  • Order and deliver working prototypes for new programs and projects
  • Complete PPAP and production implementation for new programs or changes to existing parts
  • Create and maintain significant/critical characteristic documents with suppliers or internal powertrain plants
  • Manage supplier delivery and Ford milestones through Job #1
  • Implement TVM actions for current and future model designs
  • Deliver quality actions for current-model differentials
  • Support Full Service Suppliers
  • Review warranty returns, durability vehicles and DVP testing in person at ATNPC or Sterling Axle Plant

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Engineering degree required
  • Strong interests in mechanical component and system design
  • GD&T knowledge and ability to read and update blueprints
  • Ability to review and assess 2D/3D CAD data, stacks and VSA studies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience with gear design and analysis software preferred, including Kimos, GEMS, AnSol/Calyx (Hypoid 3D, Hypoid K, Trans 3D), Romax, etc.
  • Strong engineering and prior Design & Release background preferred
  • Hypoid and/or straight bevel gear knowledge/experience preferred
  • WERS experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter preferred
  • Prior launch experience preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Highly motivated, passionate leader
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Passion to progress state of the art in gear and differential design
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
