About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, validate, and release wiring harnesses
  • Improve designs to increase quality and optimize cost and weight
  • Design harnesses to meet cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets
  • Apply Robustness Engineering disciplines, including quality history, P-Diagram, and FMEA
  • Apply Six Sigma and 8D methodologies for structured problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Lead Technical Design Reviews with cross-functional stakeholders and GTBC Ford México
  • Release parts in WERS throughout the Product Industrialization lifecycle and support Change Control Meetings
  • Audit and update Bills of Material for prototype builds and maintain post-Job 1 accuracy
  • Identify validation, durability, and functional testing requirements using DVP / FEDE DVP dashboard
  • Analyze Program Direction Letters and Trim Spiders to define EDS scope
  • Develop proposals to reduce giveaway cost, total part count, and harness complexity
  • Create design optimization proposals using competitive benchmarking
  • Build and maintain build-level complexity charts and perform harness complexity analysis
  • Perform engineering cost estimates and define or verify engineering prototype requirements
  • Support parts implementation, plant sign-off, and quality issue resolution across program milestones
  • Support prototype and production build events
  • Participate in quality and manufacturing quality forums
  • Deliver against GPDS milestones applicable to EDS
  • Submit invention disclosures, process improvements, and best practices
  • Complete training aligned with annual objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's of Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics preferred)
  • 2+ years experience requiring basic 3D CAD knowledge (TeamCenter, Vismockup)
  • 2+ years experience reading systems schematics, 2D wire harness prints, and illustrations
  • 2+ years experience presenting to stakeholders at plant and HQ levels
  • 2+ years experience with plastics and metals used in harness design
  • 2+ years experience managing supplier relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Intermediate Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio skills
  • 1+ year experience with time and project management, including Jira
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to GTBC Ford México (Naucalpan)
  • Ability to work onsite in Dearborn, Michigan 4 days per week
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • Spanish language proficiency is listed as an advantage
  • Familiarity with GPDS, foundation documentation, root cause analysis, cost estimation, feature partitioning, wire harness complexity, automotive electrical systems, plant launch, Ford FCG, V18 quality protocols, warranty processes, and vehicle diagnostics are listed as advantages
