About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define and lead the end-to-end validation and verification strategy for assigned Ford App features, beginning with native commerce and expanding to mobile-to-vehicle projection and service scheduling
Design and execute test coverage for in-app purchases and subscription flows, including checkout, Stripe payment processing, transaction-state validation, and subscription lifecycle events
Lead, mentor, and coach a team of 2–3 Software QA Engineers, with planned team growth
Participate in hiring, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring recommendations, and input into performance reviews
Own and evolve the iOS and Android mobile automation framework strategy
Design comprehensive functional, integration, and edge-case test cases
Plan and coordinate test execution and delivery schedules across releases
Execute and oversee automated and manual tests across development, staging, and production-like commerce environments
Analyze test results, debug automation failures, and perform root cause analysis
Manage defect lifecycle in JIRA, including documentation, triage, prioritization, and resolution tracking
Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and collaborate with development teams on feedback loops
Maintain test plans, test cases, and automation scripts using Git-based version control
Champion QA process improvements and industry-aligned practices such as ISTQB and ASPICE
Report test status, coverage, quality metrics, risks, and mitigation plans to engineering leadership
Explore and pilot web automation approaches to support team scaling

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in software quality assurance/validation, with a strong focus on mobile application testing (Android and/or iOS)
Demonstrable hands-on experience building test automation for native mobile platforms using XCTest/XCUIAutomation (iOS) and/or Jetpack Compose Test API and Espresso (Android)
Experience testing e-commerce, in-app purchase, or subscription-based features, including payment processing flows (e.g., Stripe or similar payment gateways)
Experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to other QA engineers
Experience planning and coordinating test delivery/execution for a team against release milestones
Strong experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), including branching and merging strategies
Experience with defect/test management tools such as JIRA
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
Strong analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis across app, integration, and environment layers
Advanced English skills
Experience with mobile-to-vehicle connectivity or projection (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, remote vehicle command/control features) [Extra]
Experience with web test automation frameworks, particularly Playwright [Extra]
Familiarity with ISTQB testing principles and/or ASPICE-aligned software validation processes [Extra]
