About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute a Systems Engineering approach to new feature design to meet customer needs
- Lead development of new features at the systems engineering level from early feature development through production
- Manage feature upgrade and migration plans
- Develop feature specifications, feature Failure Mode Avoidance documentation, and feature verification plans
- Review existing system designs to identify cost or quality improvement opportunities
- Interact with program teams, core engineers, and functional areas to create balanced solutions to competing requirements
- Develop relationships with cross-functional teams and suppliers to learn about the latest technologies and implementation possibilities
- Analyze complex cross-functional systems and implement innovative solutions
- Lead trade-off discussions with cross-functional teams
- Communicate complex systems, issues, and resolutions clearly and concisely
- Use connected data and data analytics to develop a deep understanding of the customer
- Help lead next-generation Features & HMI developments for Ford Racing’s off-road and track vehicles
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related degree
- 2–5 years of experience with vehicle electrical systems and/or features
- Strong learning agility
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Strong systems thinking and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to quickly understand and articulate complex issues
- Emotional resilience to negotiate cross-functional trade-offs
- Interest in performance vehicles and related hobbies
- Multifaceted skills focused on systems engineering, features development, rapid prototyping, software and/or electronics integration, calibration (brake controls or powertrain), and mechatronics
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- 5+ years of related experience in an automotive engineering role (preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of Quality Documents (DFMEA, LFMA, and boundary diagrams) (preferred)
- Functional knowledge of electrical module design, networking, wiring, power distribution, chassis systems, and lighting systems (preferred)
- Electrical Systems Engineering experience, including understanding of the systems engineering V model (preferred)
- Electrical D&R experience (preferred)
- Electrical testing experience (preferred)
- Experience with Track-capable and Off-Road Features & HMI systems (preferred)
- Tier 2+ Drivers training (preferred)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility verification required at hire
