About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and deliver responsive front-end UI architecture for micro frontends
  • Develop modules within eCommerce products and build high-quality front-end components and interfaces
  • Apply modern software engineering practices including BDD, CI/CD, Shift Left, and 12-factor applications
  • Support API design and architecture integrating Ford software products and external cloud-based services
  • Use AI coding assistants such as Ford LLM and GitHub Copilot, including prompt design and guard-railing
  • Implement UI features based on Figma design specifications
  • Analyze and improve product performance using Lighthouse, Dynatrace, and other monitoring tools
  • Collaborate with Frontend and Backend Architects to rationalize designs and translate them into implementation requirements
  • Work with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to align UI with user needs and product vision
  • Collaborate with cloud, security, SRE, and DevOps experts
  • Test and debug UI issues across browsers and devices
  • Troubleshoot production issues in a timely manner
  • Stay updated with the latest UI development trends and technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline
  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and delivering modern web applications
  • Strong hands-on expertise with React, Next.js, or comparable front-end frameworks
  • Ability to build scalable and maintainable solutions
  • Solid understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Experience implementing accessible, user-centric interfaces
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript, including DOM manipulation and browser APIs
  • Experience building and maintaining micro-frontend architectures
  • Experience with Server-Side Rendering (SSR), Client-Side Rendering (CSR), and Static Site Generation (SSG)
  • Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind CSS, responsive design, BEM, and SMACSS
  • Experience with state management solutions such as Redux, Zustand, or Flux
  • Proficiency with Node.js, NPM, Yarn, Webpack, and Babel
  • Experience with unit, integration, acceptance, and end-to-end testing using tools such as Jest and Playwright
  • Experience optimizing application performance, Core Web Vitals, web performance best practices, and SEO principles
  • Strong knowledge of OWASP Top 10, XSS, CSRF, CSP, OAuth 2.0, JWT, and secure coding practices
  • Experience leveraging Design Systems
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
