About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and optimize geartrain components and features including teeth, webbing, differential housings, shafts, and bearings for durability, efficiency, NVH, mass, cost, and robustness
  • Generate, update, and maintain 3D and 2D CAD designs using GD&T best practices and clear documentation
  • Review and update requirements, DFMEAs, process control plans, and other hardware design documentation
  • Evaluate data and correlate predicted and measured results with test engineers and subject matter experts
  • Support or conduct testing and test setup, including data acquisition systems and fixture design
  • Interact with vendors, manufacturing representatives, and industrialization personnel to support timely delivery of high-quality products
  • Travel as required to support scheduled activities
  • Propose and implement continuous improvements to designs and processes
  • Contribute to design reviews, test plans, and requirement reviews cross-functionally
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive design and test documentation and reports
  • Own hardware from concept to production with exposure to sourcing, validation, and ramp

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and validating geartrain hardware
  • Experience optimizing geartrain systems utilizing CAE tools such as ANSYS, FEMFAT, Romax, LDP, Kissoft, GT-Suite, MATLAB or equivalent applications
  • Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition in a lab environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a basis in first principles understanding
  • Skill set required to effectively communicate
  • Eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment
  • System approach to design and development
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
