About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Facilitate root cause analyses with cross-functional engineering teams using 8D, Five Whys, and PDCA
  • Document findings, contributing factors, and systemic weaknesses
  • Define, track, and verify Prevent Recurrence Actions
  • Document and resolve non-conformances and potential issues, tracking corrective-action effectiveness
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct quality audits across processes and products
  • Identify non-compliance, risks, and improvement opportunities; prepare reports, communicate findings, drive closure, and escalate open findings
  • Establish data-collection processes for key quality measures
  • Apply statistical methods to monitor quality metrics, identify trends, and improve process and product quality
  • Synthesize Software Quality Assurance data and activities into actionable summaries
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, newsletters, executive summaries, and presentations for engineering teams and executive leadership
  • Collaborate with supplier quality management teams to ensure externally sourced components meet Ford electronic Statement of Work requirements
  • Conduct software design reviews for architectural and quality compliance
  • Participate in engineering joint reviews
  • Coach and train engineering teams on software quality best practices, including Automotive SPICE compliance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field of study
  • 10+ years' software engineering experience in the automotive industry
  • 3+ years' experience in software quality and defect prevention for embedded software systems
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action management, and quality audits
  • 3+ years' experience with structured problem-solving tools, including 8D, 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis facilitation, and PDCA
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Proof of degree completion required; degrees obtained outside Canada require an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency
  • Experience with software quality audits, non-conformances, and software process assessments is an asset
  • Automotive SPICE assessor certification is an asset
  • Experience with Failure Mode Avoidance, embedded software development, verification and validation is a plus
  • Experience applying statistical methods to quality metrics and working within a software quality organization
  • Experience with automotive software engineering processes, Ford’s Global Product Development System, and Ford Design and Release Engineer work
  • Experience with Ford electronic Statement of Work requirements and supplier quality management
  • Experience with development and operations practices, continuous integration, and automated software testing
  • Knowledge of open-source software compliance and cybersecurity best practices
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and training skills
