About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a mechanical engineering team and set direction for 2–3 junior mechanical engineers working on a production-intent product line
  • Work with design studio, product, and marketing teams to create new electromechanical and digital automotive experiences
  • Drive product development from concept through prototyping, engineering development builds, validation, production release, and sustaining/field failure analysis
  • Bring up and validate designs developed in-house and at JDM/OEM partners
  • Test designs for reliability and validity and implement corrective changes
  • Create rapid prototypes using off-the-shelf or quickly fabricated parts
  • Understand prototyping tradeoffs and mitigate risks affecting team progress
  • Integrate designs into vehicles with other engineering teams
  • Develop product architectures and technology concepts, particularly for electronics systems
  • Develop early prototypes and new technologies leading to scalable mass production

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on industry experience
  • Experience in design, characterization, and validation of consumer electronics, vehicle systems, input devices and/or HMI
  • Experience leading or managing a small mechanical engineering team
  • Background in prototyping, full scale mockups and looks-like/feels-like demonstrations
  • Strong analytical skills regarding mechanical engineering theory
  • Relevant internship experience, school projects and passion projects demonstrating passion for product development
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Visa sponsorship is available for this position
