About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the global core engineering team responsible for climate and/or cooling components, including compressors, heat pump modules, HV heaters, A/C lines, pumps, valves, fans, and sensors
- Author engineering specifications and foundation documents, including DFMEA, DVP, and ESOW, for components across Ford global programs
- Create sourcing quote packages and technically assess suppliers for new technology components
- Qualify local suppliers for global supplier localization efforts
- Lead implementation of new suppliers and technologies using the Ford GTDS process and program management techniques
- Create, update, and monitor the modular catalog of parts for vehicle usage
- Support WCCA, software reviews, NetCom diagnostics, EMC reviews, and safety-related activities
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks during new supplier implementation
- Review and approve DV and PV plans and develop commodity business plans
- Lead component tech clubs and core process development to improve program delivery
- Capture lessons learned, prevent recurrence, and develop updated test plans, requirements, and specifications
- Troubleshoot component, subsystem, and vehicle issues hands-on
- Support resolution of manufacturing issues
- Manage thermal system SREA approvals and OK-to-Use tools
- Lead resolution of cross-carline warranty issues
- Support implementation of cross-carline TVM actions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related degree
- 10 years of automotive industry experience
- 5+ years of experience with automotive thermal system components/subsystem design or related experience
- 5+ years of supervisory experience
- Experience and/or knowledge of worst case circuit analysis (WCCA), engineering specifications, DFMEA, DVP, SCCAF, software reviews, EMC, NetCom, LIN, and automotive safety
- Design and Release experience and vehicle launch experience a plus
- Familiarity with supplier plants
- Experience collaborating with supply chain to create commodity business plans and develop supply risk mitigation actions
- CAE/CFD knowledge/experience a plus
- Project Management knowledge, including planning and executing projects, agile methodology, and risk management
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing technologies related to thermal system components
- Knowledge of Teamcenter and TcVis Mockup, including moving, aligning, modifying, and freezing components and assemblies
- Familiarity with AI tools
- Proven ability to participate effectively in and lead cross-functional teams
- Ability to work in a non-structured environment where creativity and a start-up mentality are encouraged
- Motivation to work in a fast-moving environment
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues and communicate effectively to management
- Demonstrated ability to represent the company and interact with suppliers
- Ability to communicate clearly and express new ideas to all levels of management
