About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, execute, and maintain test plans and validation strategies for mechanical, electrical, and control/software interactions in mechatronic systems
  • Conduct bench, rig, HIL, SIL, and full-vehicle testing to verify system-level requirements
  • Evaluate interactions between mechanical components, sensors/actuators, embedded control units, and software algorithms to identify integration risks
  • Analyze test data and lead root-cause investigations with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams
  • Own and drive formal system-level sign-off for mechatronic subsystems at program gateways such as DV and PV
  • Prepare DVP&R documentation, test evidence, and risk assessments; present sign-off recommendations
  • Track and resolve open issues, non-conformance, and engineering waivers before sign-off
  • Maintain requirements traceability across mechanical, electrical/electronic, and control software requirements
  • Act as the technical integration point between mechanical, electrical/electronic, controls/software, and quality teams
  • Collaborate with suppliers on mechatronic component and system-level validation
  • Support DFMEA/PFMEA reviews
  • Communicate sign-off status, technical risks, and mitigation plans to engineering management and program stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262, IATF 16949, ASPICE, and SAE standards
  • Maintain audit-ready test, calibration, and sign-off documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test rigs, HIL environments, and sign-off methodologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in mechatronic systems engineering, application engineering, or systems validation within automotive
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, including tolerances, kinematics, and materials, combined with electrical/electronic circuits and embedded control systems
  • Hands-on experience with HIL, dSPACE, CANoe/CANalyzer, LabVIEW, or equivalent test tools/environments
  • Familiarity with Jama and MATLAB/Simulink
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills across multi-domain systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-disciplinary technical reporting
  • English proficiency
  • Preferred: Experience with ISO 26262 and ASPICE processes
  • Preferred: Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and FlexRay vehicle network protocols
  • Preferred: Experience testing closed-loop control systems, motor/actuator performance, or sensor fusion applications
