About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the complete engineering design, development, and release lifecycle for wheel, tire, and jack systems across assigned vehicle programs from early concept through post-launch steady state
- Author and manage engineering Bills of Materials (BOM) and execute engineering change requests to maintain part configuration control
- Develop and execute Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R) to ensure compliance with design specifications, vehicle dynamics targets, and global safety standards
- Identify and execute design optimizations for mass reduction, piece/tooling cost efficiency, assembly feasibility, and quality excellence
- Author Engineering Statements of Work (ESOW), support technical supplier reviews, and provide technical guidance on manufacturing feasibility and supplier quality readiness
- Collaborate with vehicle assembly plants during prototype builds and launch phases to resolve engineering build issues, verify parts incorporation, and close plant quality concerns
- Collaborate with global cross-functional partners and external suppliers on wheel, tire, and jack system development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- Relevant automotive engineering experience, typically 2 to 4 years, focused on mechanical component design, chassis systems, or product release processes
- Working knowledge of automotive product development milestones, engineering change management, and Bill of Materials (BOM) authoring
- Experience developing Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R) and conducting physical component validation testing
- Familiarity with Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA), including Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and 8D root-cause methodologies
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and analytical skills
- Hands-on proficiency with 3D CAD platforms such as CATIA or Siemens NX and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) / enterprise release systems
- Experience authoring technical sourcing documentation, including Engineering Statements of Work (ESOW), and evaluating tooling or piece-cost structures
- Experience supporting vehicle assembly plants, prototype launch builds, or plant-floor issue resolution
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is advantageous
