About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Take overall ownership of the day-to-day operation of Formula E’s HSE function
- Report directly to the Safety, Security & Resilience Director
- Guide a high-performing team across the corporate office and international event calendar
- Integrate HSE management systems across all functions
- Drive continuous improvement and strategic risk management
- Oversee budgeting and lead safety audits
- Manage HSE software systems
- Support ISO 45001 implementation and ISO 20121 maintenance
- Act as HSE Event Lead for complex races and maintain oversight of global events
- Define event safety concepts and create Event Safety Management Plans
- Manage construction, crowd, power, and environmental risks
- Work with local consultants and authorities
- Lead and mentor HSE Event Leads
- Manage incident response and emergency drills
- Lead accident investigations
- Design mental and physical welfare programs with the People Team
- Review supplier RAMS, oversee safety asset inventory, and conduct post-race safety analyses
Requirements
What you’ll need- Level 6 qualified practitioner (NEBOSH Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent)
- Appropriate membership in a safety body (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM)
- Significant managerial experience
- Deep understanding of UK health and safety legislation
- Proven track record managing safety, compliance, and budgets in complex environments
- International event experience highly desirable
- ISO 45001 expertise highly desirable
- Exceptional organizational skills and team and logistical planning ability
- Ability to work independently
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Comfortable with international operational travel, typically 1–3 weeks away at a time
- Reliable, discreet, and proactive
- Successful completion of a background check via Veremark
