About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review status of delinquent accounts and initiate collection actions
- Prepare correspondence on delinquent accounts
- Make phone contact with members and cosigners according to collection queue and production goals
- Use credit union collection software to monitor accounts and determine whether promised payments were received
- Follow up on unpaid promised payments when necessary
- Skip-trace accounts according to established policies and procedures
- Initiate repossession recommendations to management
- Initiate foreclosure recommendations to management
- Initiate charge-off recommendations to management
- Maintain acceptable call quality as determined by management
- Maintain accurate records
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school education
- Self-motivated
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Previous collection experience is desired
- Bilingual is preferred
- Comfortable and efficient answering incoming and making outbound calls regarding members' past due loans
- Able to follow procedures
- High attention to detail
- Desire to learn
- Good working knowledge of credit union collection policies and procedures
- Knowledge of state and federal laws governing collection practices
- Knowledge of NCUA rules and regulations
- Compliance knowledge including BSA and the FDCPA business module
- Must be able to work on-site at the back office operations center in Rock Hill, SC
- Pre-employment drug screening, background screening, reference check, and credit check required
