About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install engines, powertrain components, and related equipment in test cells according to established procedures and safety requirements
  • Install, connect, calibrate, and verify instrumentation, sensors, and measurement equipment required for engine testing
  • Monitor test cell operations during test execution
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, abnormal operating conditions, and safety concerns
  • Execute test procedures and follow work instructions in support of engineering teams
  • Perform assigned laboratory activities
  • Document test cell activities, observations, maintenance actions, and operational events in test logs and designated documentation systems
  • Maintain high standards for safety, documentation, and equipment readiness
  • Work closely with engineering and laboratory personnel to support safe, accurate, and reliable testing activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree in a technical discipline such as Diesel Technology, Engine Technology, Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Working knowledge of mechanical principles, engine systems, and practical troubleshooting methods
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, assembly instructions, and technical documentation
  • Understanding of diesel, gasoline, and natural gas engine operation and associated thermal systems
  • Ability to assemble, disassemble, inspect, repair, overhaul, and support maintenance of engine, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, electrical systems, and electronics
  • Ability to safely use basic shop and machine tools, including drills, saws, welding equipment, and cutting machines
  • Knowledge of common measuring instruments used in metalworking, machining, and mechanical assembly environments
  • Basic computer proficiency with Windows-based applications and accurate data entry for test, inspection, and maintenance records
  • Technical certification as a Diesel Technician, Engine Technician, Automotive Technician, Mechanical Technician, or similar trade certification preferred
  • Experience with engines, industrial equipment, commercial vehicles, mechanical maintenance, testing laboratories, prototype shops, R&D environments, or engineering support functions preferred
  • Experience fabricating fixtures, prototype components, or measurement devices to support testing activities preferred
  • Experience with engine test cells, dynamometers, or data acquisition systems is a plus
  • Ability to work safely in an active engine testing laboratory environment with exposure to noise, vibration, heat, exhaust systems, and moving mechanical equipment
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move equipment up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment while performing work in the testing facility
  • Ability to respond promptly to operational issues or emergency situations and follow established local emergency response procedures
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work around engines and testing equipment for extended periods
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Consistent adherence to detailed procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • US work authorization required through Form I-9/E-Verify process
