About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support diagnostics, field quality, and issue resolution across the assigned region
- Provide diagnostic guidance for complex, high-priority, or unresolved field concerns
- Validate containment actions and corrective solutions for escalated concerns
- Perform advanced diagnostics and partner with Engineering to validate hypotheses
- Document complex concerns with logs, videos, freeze-frame data, telematics, duty cycle, and conditions
- Escalate critical concerns with necessary evidence to Engineering, Field Quality, and Product Support
- Maintain global Issue Master accuracy for visibility and consistency
- Participate in root cause and corrective action reviews to improve product quality
- Gather customer input and represent the Voice of the Customer
- Translate real-world operating conditions into actionable technical insights
- Support early warning activities for new launches with selected fleets
- Share emerging issue feedback with relevant internal teams
- Partner with dealers, customers, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and product support teams to investigate complex concerns and improve reliability and uptime
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of experience with diesel engines, powertrain, diagnostics, product quality, field engineering, technical service, or related area
- Experience troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
- Experience working with customers, dealers, technicians, OEMs
- Strong analytical skills, including root cause identification and corrective action development
- Experience collecting, documenting, and analyzing technical field data
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory and other locations
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a personal vehicle for business travel and rental vehicles as required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and diagnostic software tools
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while effectively managing multiple priorities
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engine and aftertreatment system technologies
- Experience supporting commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, power generation, or off-highway applications
- Experience in quality engineering, warranty analysis, technical service, field service, or reliability engineering
- Experience with structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, or Six Sigma
- Knowledge of warranty analysis, performance metrics, reliability trends, and corrective action
- Professional engineering certification or technical certifications related to diesel engines and diagnostics
- Working knowledge of telematics systems and data acquisition tools
- English required; additional language skills such as Italian or Spanish are considered an asset
- Travel up to 50-75% of the time, including overnight travel
- Work in repair facilities, customer sites, plants, test environments, and outdoor settings
- Climb onto and inspect industrial/agricultural vehicles and equipment
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Operate diagnostic equipment, laptops, hand tools, and measuring devices
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces during technical investigations
- Work safely around moving machinery, engines, and industrial equipment
