About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the BWR lead for the NDE Engineering organization
- Mentor employees in BWR plant knowledge
- Perform and review design work for tooling used in BWR inspections
- Support proposals for BWR inspection work
- Assist on-site with BWR inspection work at plants around the United States
- Perform complex engineering assignments in design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, specification preparation, field-task execution, and field-problem resolution
- Independently review department work products, risk assessments, Apparent Cause Analyses, Root Cause Analyses, and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses
- Propose solutions and work scopes to the supervisor and work autonomously on most assignments
- Ensure compliance with government, organizational, industry, and customer engineering standards
- Evaluate, select, and apply technical techniques, procedures, and criteria for complex adaptations and modifications
- Develop new or adapted products, methods, systems, or models that provide value-added customer solutions
- Assess the impact of work on internal and external organizations
- Work on special projects as directed
- Suggest and implement process improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; degrees in Physics, Engineering Technology, and Engineering Science may also be accepted depending on the position
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience
- At least 5 years of experience working at or performing design work for a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR)
- Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques, and criteria
- Excellent communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data
- Advanced problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Advanced proficiency with specialized software tools and programming languages as required by the role
- Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently with tight turnaround schedules
- Experience designing mechanical or electrical tooling, robotics, or control systems preferred
- Hands-on assembly, testing, and troubleshooting skills and interest preferred
- Leadership characteristics, questioning attitude, self-checking, and collaborative interpersonal skills
- Offers contingent on background check and drug screen where applicable
- Must meet eligibility requirements for information subject to U.S. export control regulations
