Ship software regularly and iteratively using testable, readable, and maintainable code
Develop a deep understanding of data flows through complex systems and intricate data models
Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve velocity while maintaining code quality
Design and implement solutions for scale, security, performance, and privacy
Guide engineers on safely and effectively integrating AI into development workflows
Coach junior engineers to develop technical skills
Propose and implement improvements to engineering processes as AI advances
Participate in and lead code reviews
Share learnings through presentations or documentation
Mentor other engineers
Review quantitative and qualitative research about clients and learners
Contribute to product strategy and roadmap decisions
Participate in Design and Operational Reviews to guide technical decisions and identify performance issues
Partner with Product to provide viable technical paths for new features and improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
Experience coding in a production Python environment
Experience with React and TypeScript
Experience writing SQL queries and designing relational data models
Experience using agentic development workflows
Ability to articulate where AI workflows create leverage for a small team and where they create liability
Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
Experience coding in a Django environment
Experience with tiered web application architecture, including backend services, APIs, and frontend integration
Experience creating performance monitors and dashboards using observability tools such as Datadog
Experience improving or refactoring complex systems in production without impacting customer experience
Excellent written communication skills
Passion for leadership development and empowering growth in individuals and teams
