About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set strategy and drive business performance for a portfolio of Freddie Mac Single-Family mortgage products
  • Identify unmet borrower and lender needs and assess market opportunities
  • Develop new mortgage offerings and optimize existing products
  • Build investment cases and lead complex initiatives from strategy through market launch
  • Evaluate credit, underwriting, pricing and economics, secondary-market and capital-markets execution, Seller operations, competitive dynamics, and housing finance policy
  • Propose product strategies that strengthen market competitiveness and advance Freddie Mac’s mission
  • Translate lender needs, market gaps, and industry trends into product optimization opportunities
  • Translate product strategy into credit, pricing, Guide, delivery and operational requirements
  • Partner with Operations, Credit, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Capital Markets, Sales, and Servicing on execution and delivery
  • Assess mortgage products, lead recurring product reviews, and recommend expansion, repositioning, or rightsizing
  • Develop quantitative, market intelligence, financial, and strategic analyses for executive recommendations
  • Present product strategies and performance updates to senior leaders
  • Lead enterprise initiatives requiring alignment across multiple business divisions
  • Engage Sellers through advisory councils, Seller visits, industry events, and forums
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and mortgage product design best practices
  • Represent Freddie Mac at industry events and housing finance forums

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in Single-Family mortgage finance
  • Experience leading complex mortgage-product initiatives from market opportunity and business case through product approval, implementation, launch and performance assessment
  • Ability to assess mortgage product opportunities based on borrower and customer needs, market size, competitive position, credit risk, pricing, capital, economics, operational feasibility, and mission impact
  • Proven ability to influence executives and lead large cross-functional initiatives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strategic mindset with a track record of driving change and innovation in mortgage product practices
  • Expertise in mortgage product strategy/development, conventional, affordable, home-equity and specialty mortgage products
  • Expertise in underwriting and credit policy, mortgage pricing and profitability, GSE eligibility and delivery, and mortgage product performance
  • Knowledge of secondary mortgage market pricing, best-execution strategies, loan economics, and MBS fundamentals
  • Knowledge of underwriting, mortgage insurance, and credit performance analysis
  • Knowledge of Freddie Mac commitment and delivery processes, loan origination technology tools, and the Seller/Servicer Guide
