About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop mining plans based on geological information to support short- and long-range planning and production goals
Participate in engineering feasibility studies defining mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, manpower and production requirements
Assist in preparing detailed ore reserve estimates
Monitor mining methods and equipment to improve performance
Optimize mining methods, procedures and equipment to maximize productivity and extraction rates
Assist in developing and managing mine, mine ventilation, waste dump and stockpile designs
Recommend actions to eliminate production problems, improve safety and operational efficiency, control production costs and protect the environment
Work with geologists in exploration and assist in engineering phases of developments and operations
Monitor mine ventilation and air quality at working sites throughout the mine
Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR Master's degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mine Engineering
Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
International Travel: up to 5%
Domestic Travel: up to 10%
Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam
Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing
Ability to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work at a 24/7, 365-day operation
Mandatory pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws
