About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct monthly and annual safety inspections of remote- and cab-operated overhead bridge cranes
- Perform routine and non-routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on overhead cranes
- Repair, install, fabricate, rebuild, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on overhead cranes
- Complete work orders, order parts and maintain maintenance documentation
- Operate overhead and mobile cranes and apply safe rigging practices
- Follow MSHA, environmental, SOP and work-area requirements
- Participate in safety and environmental activities
- Mentor or train other technicians as needed
- Work under minimal supervision with safe production as the primary objective
- Perform additional duties according to business needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Four (4) years of combined mechanical and electrical experience
- Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts, or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
- Two (2) years’ experience or a combination of education and experience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance, or high school diploma/GED and completion of an approved certified electronics, electrical and/or instrumentation program
- Proficiency in welding/cutting (MIG, TIG, ARC, Oxy-acetylene)
- Competency in mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, welding, bearings, basic metallurgy, plumbing, alignment, machine shop, blueprints, schematics, and mobile equipment
- Qualified to operate overhead and mobile cranes and knowledgeable of safe rigging practices
- Understanding of MSHA rules and regulations, environmental rules and regulations, SOPs, and work area instructions
- Working knowledge of fabrication, part lists and repair
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair
- Working knowledge of Static Stepless Motor Control, magnetic motor control (AC/DC), wound rotor motors, electrical schematics, rectors, eddy current brakes, three-phase and single-phase circuits, and electrical equipment troubleshooting
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions in English
- Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments, procedures and safety standards
- Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation
- Ability to pass required training/testing, medical examination if required, and mandatory drug testing
- Preferred: high school diploma or GED; welding certification; larger-than-20-ton mobile crane experience; equipment modification experience; overhead crane electrical controls; current Certified Crane Inspector; motor repair; PLC knowledge
