About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide and coordinate clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, for assigned patients
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians
  • Collect and analyze patient data before, during, and after treatment; document findings and adjust treatment plans as indicated
  • Assess and provide initial and ongoing education to patients and families
  • Recognize abnormal patient status and collaborate with Supervisors, physicians, primary nurses, and facility personnel
  • Direct and provide safe, effective care for prescribed modality-specific dialysis treatments
  • Assess daily patient care needs and collaborate with direct and ancillary care staff
  • Coordinate communication with FKC and non-FKC dialysis providers and contracted facility personnel
  • Implement, administer, monitor, and document intradialytic transfusions and report adverse reactions
  • Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate and assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor, and role model for employees
  • Provide specialized nursing care instructions to hospital/facility staff when contractually required
  • Assist in an outpatient facility as needed
  • Serve as a preceptor to new employees
  • Complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor
  • May provide essential functions at other locations
  • Travel to training/meeting sites and between assigned facilities
  • Participate in on-call, night, weekend, and holiday coverage as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current appropriate state licensure
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Must meet the practice requirements in all states employed
  • Minimum 2 years or more of Nephrology Nursing experience in the last 2 years as an RN
  • Acute dialysis experience preferred
  • Successful completion of all FKC education and modality-specific training requirements for designated Nurse in Charge duties
  • 6 months experience in acute dialysis as an RN for designated Nurse in Charge duties
  • Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation
  • Ability to frequently stand for prolonged periods and bend over
  • Ability to move, with assistance, machines and equipment up to 200 lbs.
  • Ability to lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
  • Ability to complete the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment
  • Ability to work in a health care facility and potentially be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
