About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide and coordinate clinically competent care for assigned inpatient dialysis patients
- Assess, plan, intervene, evaluate, and document patient care before, during, and after treatment
- Delegate appropriate tasks to RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians
- Adjust treatment plans and notify supervisors, physicians, primary nurses, and other appropriate personnel
- Assess and provide patient and family education
- Recognize changes in patient status and collaborate with the health care team
- Direct and provide safe, effective modality-specific dialysis treatment procedures
- Assess daily patient care needs and collaborate with direct and ancillary care staff
- Coordinate communication with FKC and non-FKC dialysis providers and contracted facility personnel
- Implement, administer, monitor, and document intradialytic transfusions and adverse reactions
- Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
- Initiate and assist with emergency response measures
- Serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor, and role model for employees
- Provide specialized nursing care instructions to hospital/facility staff as needed
- Assist in an outpatient facility as needed
- Serve as a preceptor to new employees
- Complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Nurse (RN) with current appropriate state licensure
- Must meet practice requirements in all states employed
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Minimum 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience in the last 2 years as an RN
- Acute dialysis experience preferred
- Successful completion of all FKC education and modality-specific training requirements for designated Nurse in Charge oversight
- 6 months of experience in acute dialysis as an RN for designated Nurse in Charge oversight
- Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
- Ability to move, with assistance, machines and equipment up to 200 lbs. and lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
- Required to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment
