About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide and coordinate clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Delegate appropriate tasks to RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians
- Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities
- Perform ongoing pre-, during-, and post-treatment patient data collection and analysis
- Document patient data and treatment responses in medical records
- Adjust treatment plans and notify supervisors, physicians, primary nurses, and other appropriate personnel
- Assess and provide initial and ongoing patient and family education
- Recognize abnormal patient status and collaborate with appropriate healthcare team members
- Direct and provide safe, effective modality-specific treatment procedures
- Assess daily patient-care needs and coordinate with direct and ancillary staff
- Coordinate communication with FKC and non-FKC dialysis providers and contracted facility personnel
- Implement, administer, monitor, and document intradialytic transfusions and adverse reactions
- Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
- Initiate and assist with emergency response measures
- Serve as a healthcare-team resource and participate in staff training and orientation
- Provide specialized nursing-care instruction to hospital/facility staff as contractually stipulated
- Assist in an outpatient facility as needed
- Complete CAP requirements to advance
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in all states in which he or she is employed
- Minimum 9 months experience as a Registered Nurse (12 months preferred)
- 6 months acute dialysis experience (preferred)
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as an RN
- Hemodialysis and/or ICU experience (preferred)
- Must be able to perform direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
- May occasionally need to move machines and equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance
- May lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
- Requires travel to training/meeting sites and between assigned facilities
- Requires participation in on-call rotation, night, weekend, and holiday coverage as defined by program needs
