About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide and coordinate clinically competent care, including patient assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Delegate appropriate tasks to RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians
- Collect and analyze patient data before, during, and after treatment; document findings and modify treatment plans as indicated
- Assess and document patient and family learning needs and provide ongoing education
- Recognize abnormal patient status and collaborate with supervisors, physicians, primary nurses, and facility personnel
- Direct and provide safe, effective care for assigned patients during modality-specific treatments
- Assess daily patient-care needs and collaborate with direct and ancillary care staff
- Coordinate communication with FKC and non-FKC dialysis providers and contracted facility personnel
- Implement, administer, monitor, and document intradialytic transfusions and report adverse reactions
- Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
- Initiate and assist with emergency response measures
- Serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor, and role model for employees
- Provide specialized nursing care instructions to hospital or facility staff when contractually required
- Assist in outpatient facilities as needed
- Serve as a preceptor to new employees
- Complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in all states employed
- Minimum 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience in the last 2 years as an RN
- Acute dialysis experience preferred
- Successful completion of all FKC education and modality-specific training requirements for designated Nurse in Charge oversight
- Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
- Ability to move machines and equipment up to 200 lbs with assistance
- Ability to lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs as high as 5 feet
- Ability to travel to training/meeting sites and between assigned facilities
- Participation in on-call rotation, night, weekend, and holiday work as required
- Completion of the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment
