About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide safe and effective hemodialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse while working toward obtaining a nursing license
- Perform vascular access evaluation, cannulation, and hemostasis with appropriate dressings
- Perform and document pre-, intra-, and post-dialysis patient evaluations, vital signs, weights, treatment responses, interventions, and discharge assessments
- Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed blood flow and dialysate flow orders
- Monitor patients’ responses, evaluate intradialytic problems, and report significant information or changes to the nurse supervisor
- Obtain prescribed laboratory tests and prepare, label, store, and courier lab specimens
- Prepare dialysis equipment and supplies, perform machine setup and testing, and clean and disinfect equipment and treatment areas
- Enter treatment data accurately into the designated clinical application and maintain complete healthcare records
- Prepare laboratory requisitions and ensure timely specimen collection
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduated from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months
- Required to obtain nursing license within 90 days of employment
- Must maintain required credentials or certifications in active and valid status, including timely renewal
- Ability to handle demanding situations, multitask, and remain flexible to changing needs
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Passes or completes the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment; failing does not preclude employment and reasonable accommodations will be considered
- Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting and moving patients, assisting with ambulation, prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work in a healthcare facility environment and potentially be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
- May be required to travel between assigned facilities and to regional, Business Unit, and Corporate meetings
