About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Explore, recommend, and coordinate insurance and potential financial assistance options for kidney dialysis patients
- Meet regularly with dialysis patients at assigned clinics to educate and coordinate insurance options
- Educate patients about Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement, State Renal programs, and COBRA
- Assist eligible patients with Medicare applications, open enrollment, and reinstatement paperwork
- Determine Medicare eligibility and liaise with local Social Security offices and Medicare agents
- Monitor and verify Medicaid status and determine spend-down amounts
- Evaluate patients' financial information and complete initial and annual indigent waiver applications
- Monitor and update patient insurance information for the Accounts Receivable Department
- Resolve insurance discrepancies, disputed claims, and non-payment paperwork
- Meet with patients receiving direct insurance payments to ensure Fresenius receives payment for dialysis treatments
- Prepare, analyze, and review monthly caseload and billing-system reports
- Provide QA team members with monthly insurance-status information and action-plan documentation
- Complete monthly audit exams and follow internal policies
- Present insurance and financial assistance options to patients as needed
- Assist with projects assigned by the direct supervisor and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree required; Social Work or other Healthcare focus preferred
- 2 - 5 years' related experience; healthcare industry preferred
- Experience with Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid systems a plus
- Past patient interaction a plus
- Excellent written and communication skills
- A strong customer service philosophy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office applications
- Valid Driver's License
- Extensive local travel to clinics in a specified geographic area
