About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide safe and effective hemodialysis therapy as part of the healthcare team under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
  • Work toward obtaining a nursing license
  • Perform vascular access evaluation, cannulation, and hemostasis
  • Perform and document pre-, intra-, and post-dialysis patient evaluations, vital signs, weights, and treatment information
  • Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed blood flow and dialysate flow orders
  • Evaluate and intervene in intradialytic problems as prescribed or directed
  • Monitor patient response to dialysis therapy and report significant changes to the nurse supervisor
  • Obtain laboratory testing and prepare, label, store, and arrange collection of specimens
  • Prepare dialysis equipment, perform machine setup and testing, and clean and disinfect equipment and treatment areas
  • Maintain safe, clean, and aesthetically appropriate treatment areas
  • Enter treatment data accurately into the designated clinical application and complete or correct health record entries
  • Prepare laboratory requisitions and ensure specimen collection by the appropriate courier
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance and perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduated from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months
  • Required to obtain nursing license within 90 days of employment
  • Must obtain and maintain any required credentials or certifications in active and valid status, including renewals before expiration
  • Ability to handle demanding situations, multitask, and remain flexible to changing needs
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Ability to pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment, with reasonable accommodations considered
  • Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a healthcare facility environment with potential exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
  • Ability to travel between assigned facilities and various community locations; regional, Business Unit, and Corporate meeting travel may be required
