About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide and coordinate clinically competent care for an assigned group of outpatient dialysis patients
  • Perform ongoing assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation before, during and after hemodialysis treatment
  • Document patient data and modify treatment plans as indicated
  • Assess and provide initial and ongoing education to patients and families
  • Direct and provide safe, effective daily hemodialysis therapy in collaboration with patient care staff
  • Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as a resource for the healthcare team and participate in staff training and orientation
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures
  • Develop, document and update nursing assessments and plans of care with the Interdisciplinary Team
  • Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
  • Complete Clinical Advancement Program requirements
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current appropriate state licensure
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
  • Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred
  • Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN for assigned oversight duties
  • Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN for assigned oversight duties
  • Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients and assisting with ambulation
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
  • Ability to move, with assistance, machines and equipment up to 200 lbs.
  • Ability to lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
  • May be required to travel to training sites or other facilities
