Outpatient Registered Nurse – RN

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide and coordinate clinically competent care for assigned patients, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Delegate appropriate tasks to RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians
- Collect and analyze patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment
- Document patient data in medical records and modify treatment plans as indicated
- Notify Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Physician as needed
- Assess and document patient and family learning needs and provide education
- Direct and provide safe, effective hemodialysis therapy with patient care and ancillary staff
- Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
- Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
- Serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor, and role model for employees
- Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures
- Identify outcomes and update nursing assessments and plans of care in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team
- Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
- Participate in facility- and area-level education and quality improvement projects
- May serve as a preceptor to new employees
- Complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Minimum of 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience for entry-level RN designation
- Minimum of 3 months’ experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as an RN for Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge oversight
- Successful completion of all FKC education and training requirements for new employees before assigned oversight
- Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
- Ability to move machines and equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance
- Ability to lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
- Ability to meet physical demands and working conditions of the role
- Willingness/ability to travel to training sites or other facilities as required
